암 치료 과정에서 이것이 문제되는 이유는, 이러한 염기서열 변화로 인해 항암제에 대한 반응이 달라지게 되므로 치료를 어렵게 만들기 때문이다. 따라서, 단일 세포 유전체를 분석하게 되면 현재 암을 구성하는 세포가 어떠한 돌연변이를 가지고 있는지 파악할 수 있게 되고, 환자는 더 적절한 치료를 받을 수 있게 되는 것이다.
10x Genomics(TXG)의 주요 파이프라인은 Single Cell Gene Expression을 보는 것이다. 각각의 cell이 어느 cell 인지 구별하여 진단에 도움을 줄 수 있을뿐만 아니라 어떤 마커들을 발현하고 있는지도 확인할 수 있어 치료에 도움을 줄 수 있다.
이 외에도, 10x Genomics는 single cell의 면역 프로파일이나 최근 각광받는 epigenomic profile 등을 확인할 수 있는 파이프라인도 가지고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
